In this half day 30km Leiden tulip bike tour with your enthusiastic guide we’ll go from city to countryside. Windmills, villages, meadows and when you least expect it: tulip fields.
From Leiden city to countryside
Our starting point is close to Leiden train station. After a small round to make sure you’re comfortable on your bike we take off. Within 15 minutes cycling we leave the cosy city centre behind to enter the peaceful countryside route. We follow the waterways and pass different types of windmills. Then, past the lakes and the quaint village with its fantastic local cafés we’ll spot what we came for: the flower fields.
Power flower pictures stops
You might have heard that you’re not allowed to enter the tulip fields. No worries, I know just the right places for you to take those ultimate, typical Dutch photos. Our destination of this Leiden tulip bike tour through the Amsterdam tulip fields is a cosy greenhouse/ bulb farm. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee with typical Dutch apple pie with view on the tulip fields. And best, you can wander through the fields and take those power flower selfies!
Mesmerized by all the beauty Holland has to offer, it is time to get on our bikes again for the route back.

- What is the best time for the tulip bike tour Keukenhof?
This tour is best from:
23 March – 14 May 2023- combining your tulip bike tour with a visit to Europe’s biggest spring garden.
Nature is unpredictable. Last years the best time to see the tulips was Mid-April. Due to the warmer winters tulips bloom earlier, beginning of April. In 2021 we had a cold wave in March, tulips were at their best Mid-May. The end of March/ start of April is always my favorite time as you’ll still see the daffodils, smell the hyacinths and can enjoy the tulips. In May most tulips have been cut and fields will be empty. Although I can not garantee that you see tulip fields end of March, mid- May I will always do my best to bring you to at least 1 field.
