Quaint village, windmill, lake & tulips

In this full day guided 40km Leiden – Keukenhof e-bike tour we’ll go from city to countryside. Lakes, villages, meadows and when you least expect it: tulip fields.

From Leiden city to countryside

Our starting point is Leiden train station. From there we quickly leave the city centre behind to enter the peaceful countryside route. We follow the waterways and pass different types of windmills. Then, past the lakes and the quaint village with its fantastic local cafés we’ll spot what we came for: the flower fields.

Power flower pictures stops

You might have heard that you’re not allowed to enter the flower fields. No worries, I know just the right places for you to take those ultimate, typical Dutch photos. We’ll make a brief stop at a cosy greenhouse/ bulb farm for a nice piece of apple pie & coffee and then we head to Keukenhof.

Destination Leiden – Keukenhof e-bike tour: flower gardens

When we reach Keukenhof you have 2 hours to visit the park on your own account. If you’ve already seen the gardens, I can show you great places to have lunch or tell you more about the castle.

Mesmerized by all the beauty, I’ll make sure you get on your bike again for the route back.

Combine with a visit Keukenhof?

Combining your 2020 visit to Keukenhof tulip park with a cycling tour Leiden Keukenhof by electric bike is a great way to make the most out of your daytrip from Amsterdam. As there are so many gems in the region, it might be a good idea though to plan your visit to Keukenhof another day. Usually people take 4 hours to visit the flower gardens. In this bike tour you get 2 hours for a Keukenhof visit.

  • What is the best time for the tulip bike tour Keukenhof?

This tour is best from:

21 March – 10 May 2020

20 March – 16 May 2021

19 March – 15 May 2022

Nature is unpredictable. Last years the best time to see the tulips was Mid-April. Due to the warmer winters tulips bloom earlier,  beginning of April. The end of March/  start of April is always my favorite time as you’ll still see the daffodils, smell the hyacinths and can enjoy the tulips. In May most tulips have been cut and fields will be empty. Although I can not garantee that you see tulip fields end of March, mid- May I will always do my best to bring you to at least 1 field.

  • What else is there to see & do in the region?

There many gems and special locations in the Flower Region. Flower villages, cheese farms, lakes, windmills. I’ll tell you all about it in the bike tour. If you want to see the seaside, thatched roof houses check the Haarlem- Keukenhof bike tour. Or try something different like a Delft blue countryside bike tour.

  • Will we pass a cheese farm?

A cheese farm is not on the route. You can request a private tour so we can make this a tulip & cheese daytrip. When interested in a cheese farm tour, I can also recommend the Leiden or Gouda cheese bike tour.
