How to get to Keukenhof from Amsterdam by public transport? It’s fairly easy. As explained in this blogpost, the popular flower garden of the Netherlands is located in Lisse. This year, the Keukenhof is open from 23 March till 14 May 2023. In these  weeks,  there are special buses that drop you right in front of the entrance of the famous flower park.

This blogpost will be updated in February 2023, when the combitickets public transport – Keukenhof entrance tickets are available. You can already buy Keukenhof entrance tickets or Amsterdam city centre shuttle + entrance.

Direct connection to the famous Dutch spring gardens from Amsterdam

There are several ways to get to Keukenhof from Amsterdam by public transport. In 2022 you also have a direct connection between Amsterdam and the tulip gardens!

That direct bus connection leaves at Amsterdam RAI with bus 852. To get to this point from Amsterdam city centre :

  • Take the metro M52 . You can take it from Amsterdam Centraal train station or another stop in the city centre. At Europaplein is bus 852 which will take you to the tulip gardens in 35 minutes

 

Get to Keukenhof from Amsterdam via Schiphol airport

Another possibility to get from Amsterdam city to the famous Dutch spring flower park is:

  • Make use of bus 397

Bus 397 is perfect for when you want to go from Amsterdam city centre to Schiphol. To get to Schiphol airport, you can use one of these bus stops in the city centre.

Bus 397 will take you to the Amsterdam airport. You get off at the stop that says: Schiphol, airport.

At Schiphol, near arrival hall 3, 4  you look for a bus with the number 858. Signs on the bus read ‘Keukenhof Express’. It has lovely images of the tulip garden printed on it.

Bus 858  from Amsterdam Schiphol airport takes about 30 minutes to reach Keukenhof. There’s a bus leaving every 7-10 minutes. Do take into account that there might be a line and you have to wait for the bus. I really recommend to purchase the tickets in advance!

This is a good option to get to Keukenhof from Amsterdam in 2022.

Travel with the Keukenhof express

If you are not staying in the city centre of Amsterdam or in another city nearby , you can also opt to take a train to Schiphol airport and from there switch on to bus number 858, ‘Keukenhof express’.

Are you staying in Haarlem or Leiden? Then there are direct busses to Keukenhof tulip festival! The stop is at the busplatform in front of the train station. In Leiden your bus number is 854. This bus is also decorated with flower prints. It takes about half an hour to reach Keukenhof. Do take in mind that in peak season busses are fuller and will take longer. In Haarlem look for bus number 50.  Travel time is approx. 1 hour.

Off the beaten tulip track

An adventurous way to travel from Amsterdam to the spring flower garden 2022 is by taking a train to Sassenheim. It’s a slow train that offers amazing views of the bulb flower fields in Amsterdam area. Sassenheim has a small station. The bus to Lisse, number 50 is right next to the train station. You get of at bus stop Lisse, Vreewijk and then walk a 1.4 km to Keukenhof.

At the entrance of Keukenhof I’ll be waiting for you for the bike tour tulip fields & visit bulb farm. All this sounds to difficult? New in 2023: timeslots for bustransfer to famous Dutch flower garden

There are bus transfers from Amsterdam or Schiphol to the tulip gardens or from Leiden to the tulip gardens. In 2023 you choose a timeslot for the journey towards the gardens. You can then take any of the busses departing 30 minutes before and 60 minutes after the chosen timeslot. For the journey back to your starting point you do not need to reserve a timeslot.
