De Stijl open air museum Leiden

It’s like the orange madness, only in primary colours.  It is in every city in the Netherlands. Everywhere. You can’t turn a corner without bumping into a red-white-blue and yellow & black decoration or object. It’s what happened to me. I was in Leiden for my regularly city walk. Walked through the city centre, into one of the historical streets. Turned the corner and there it was: a De Stijl open air museum Leiden.

From 16th century Gouda cartoons to modern Zwolle stained glass superheroes

Today’s journey from 16th century Gouda cartoons to modern Zwolle stained glass superheroes starts in Leiden. For a team activity during the Leidens Ontzet I was looking for unique places and objects. Research brought me in the St John of Gouda. There was a huge stained glass window depicting the Relief of Leiden. Why it was there and not in Leiden I will tell you later. For now picture yourself in the St John and think of a comic book.

Cycling to a Gouda cheese farm on a Saturday

We wave the summer holidays goodbye as the first signs of autumn creep in. Schools in the Netherlands have started again and everyone’s back to work. Many expats in The Hague have just arrived.
